Stephon Washington Is Top ATH In MyHitNews.com’s 2010 Preseason Nebraska HS Football Prospect Rankings
myHitNews Flash
| April 27, 2009, Thunderbird Invite–Burke’s Stephon Washington continues to impose his will as he upsets teammate Jake Marousek –Class A’s top 200 meter performer–in the 200 meter. Despite the cold damp weather, Washington ran a 22.18–one of the season’s best time in the event. He later went on to win the 400 meter in a time of 50.17. Washington is a danger to win the Class A: 200, 400, 110 high hurdle, 400 relay, 1600 relay and almost a certainty to claim his third 300 IM hurdle title at this year’s state meet. The problem he and his coaches face is which one of these events to place him in at districts. Stay healthy and at the state meet Washington has an excellent opportunity to sweep all the events he enters. Remember: this is the same kid who as a freshman won his first Class A state championship by chasing down senior Nebraska recruit and Rivals 4 star Niles Paul in the 300 IM hurdles—the kid has serious guts! We have only just begun to see what Washington is capable of. Washington also becomes the 5thannounced member of myHitNews.com’s 2010 Preseason Top Ten Nebraska High School Football Prospects–he is the top ATH in the Class of 2010. He is a projected all purpose back, cornerback, and special teams return man. Whichever position he ultimately fits in at—Washington will end up being among the best to play the position. That’s just his nature—Yes! I’m talking about at the D-1 level. Don’t let the fact that Washington may be a little undersized and has no Rivals stars next to his name or D-1 offers as of yet fool you. This kid is the real deal and he is just getting started. As long as Washington stays healthy and he keeps his grades, he will—and you have not heard me say this about anyone— get a D-1 offer. He just has too much going on inside to be denied. Evan Herring of Bellevue West improves upon his season leading triple jump mark by hitting a distance of 47-feet-3/4 inches. Millard South Freshman Claire Nichols wins the girls 200 meter with a time of 26.02 Related Links: |
