Stephon Washington, Omaha Burke, 300 meter IMH (37.71).
Ted Lampkin, Omaha Central, long jump (24′ 41/4“).
Deverell Biggs, Omaha Central, high jump, (7-0).
Christopher Reed, Omaha Central, shot put (62′ 63/4“).
Girls
LacQue Moen-Davis, Omaha Central, 100 HH (13.99), long jump (20′ 23/4“) *longest jump in history, triple jump (42′ 04”) *longest jump in history).
Aubree Worden, Scottsbluff, 1600 meter (4:57.50).
Brianna McGhee, Omaha North, 100 HH (14.44).
Alyssa Kamphaus, Seward, shot put (47′ 7 1/4“).
Lauren Welch, Papillion-La Vista, pole vault (12′ 41/4“).
In additon, current 2011 athletes Morgan Woitzel and Clara Nichols of Millard South posted top ten marks in the 400 meter during their freshman year, 55.67 and 56.06 respectively. 2011 Columbus Scotus seinor Amber Ewers also made the chart as a freshman in the 200 meter (24.50).
Ten or fifteen years from now we may be looking back at this period in time as the heyday of Nebraska high school track and field or the beginning of a rennisance in the sport.
Cross your fingers for good weather, because this season is stocked with another bounty of talented athletes that have the ability to rewite the books.
