Hey Coaches, Try Athletic.net
Before we get to my weekly preview and the rankings, I just want to make a push to get more coaches to use http://www.athletic.net to keep track of athlete PR’s and progress. It is a very easy system to use and the data it produces gives us a lot of opportunities.
Athletic.net will automatically build performance lists for Nebraska Class A Track & Field and each individual district. It would be great if all the coaches in Class A would use this system. At the very least, it would make it a lot easier for everyone to keep track of top performances. Check it out and give it a try, if you have not.
Big Meets Of The Week
This week looks to hold some intriguing matchups on both the boys and the girls side.
First on the boys side–The place to be this week is out at Millard South, on Thursday, where four of the top six ranked teams will be showing up to compete. Fremont, Millard West, Papillion-La Vista, and Omaha Burke are set to face off in what could be the most competitive early season meet of the year. The winner of the Millard South Invite will surely become the favorite to challenge Kearney’s hold to the top spot.
Kearney’s challenge biggest challenge may come soon too, because–as an added bonus–next Monday they will be among three of the top boy teams facing off at the Columbus Invite. However, before they get to Columbus, the reigning Boy Class A champs will have to get by two Top Ten teams, Lincoln Southwest and Omaha North. Both teams will travel out West to take on the mighty Bearcats. We will see how these two teams stack up against No.1 Kearney and if they deserve to move up in the rankings.
The last big meet on the boys side with Top Ten matchups is the Grand Island invite, which will play host to Norfolk and Lincoln Northeast.
By the end of next week, it really looks as though we will have a good idea as to how the boys track and field season s going to shake out.
The girls side–We have some interesting matchups with three big meets taking place on Thursday:
1. The No.1 Kearney girls will take on Lincoln Southwest and Omaha North. The winner of this meet will solidify their ranking as the No. 1 girls team in the state. 2. Again out West, we will see a big showdown at Grand Island, where the GI girls will host Lincoln Southeast. Both of these teams are eager to prove they are deserving of the No.1 spot. 3. The last big Thursday meet this week will take place in the Metro when four Top Ten teams: Omaha Westside, Millard South, Millard North, and Papio South will look to shuffle their way out of the bottom portion of the rankings. The winner of this meet could see a significant jump in next week’s polls.
Well, as you can see, Thursday is the day of reckoning! I hope the weather cooperates, because I am tired of writing about the same old questions! Let me know if you have any other questions comments or suggestions.
Thanks again to everyone for voting and supporting these efforts. It is greatly appreciated.
