Quick Notes & Track & Field Leaders

Last April MHN noted that sophomore Tim Thompson from Boys Town smoked a 10.48 100 meter (click here to see article). In that article I questioned whether or not the time may have been a typo, wind-aided and/or a result of a friendly timer. Nevertheless, a year later, here we are again with another jaw-dropping and downright earth-shattering time being reported.
According to the Omaha World-Herald high school track results, On Thursday, April 1st, 2010, at the Platteview Invite, located in Springfield, Nebraska,Tim Thompson ran a 10.17 100 meter. If this is not some kind of April fool’s joke or an erroneous typo – that result would shatter the record of the fastest recorded Nebraska high school track 100 meter time of 10.3 set by Scott Yank of Lincoln Southeast in 1981.
Until further clarification and/or correction, I’m just delivering this information as reported.
Belleveue West’s Xavier Thomson continues to raises the bar in the high jump. On Thursday, Thompson cleared a 6′ 10″ bar at the Chieftain Track & Field Meet. Is a seven-footer in the near future?
Lookout girl long jumpers! Freshman Kato Bradley out of Crete got enough air under her to land 18′ 7″ inches in the pit. So far that’s the best jump of the season for Nebraska high school girls.
