Millard North’s Mike Dentlinger Putting up Impressive Numbers In ’09-’10

The regular season of Nebraska high school boys basketball is nearly two-thirds of the way completed, and according to the Omaha World-Herald’s recently released boys basketball statistical leaders, Omaha Burke’s Ray McGaugh is the leading scorer in Class A, averaging 24.7 per game, and his teammate Adonis Hill leads in assist by dishing out an average of 5 per game. So my question is “with these two goodies why are the Bulldogs struggling so much this season?”
South Sioux City sophomore Mike Gesell continues to show why he is considered the No.1 HS basketball prospect in Nebraska, averaging 20.7 points per game and sharing Class B’s lead in assist with Beatrice’s Trevor Menke with 6.3 per game,
Field-Goal Percentage
My goodness! Creighton Prep’s Joe Trouba shots are finding the bottom of the net at a rate of 76. 5 percent.
Downtowners
Class B has three bombers averaging at least 50 percent from behind the arc: Trevor Menke, Beatrice 52.6; Grant Kay, Ralston, 52.3 and Joey Werning of Lincoln Pius X at 50.
Leading the way in Class A is Papio South’s Jalen Hueser who is banging it home at a clip of 47.6. Lincoln Southwest’s Drew Edmond is not far behind at 45.3.
Free-throws
Crete’s Derek McGinnis leads class B at 90.9 percent and Ben Imig of Bryan is Class A’s No.1 free-throw shooter at 88.9.
Rebounds
Millard North’s 6-6, senior Mike Dentlinger is putting together a very impressive season—he leads Class A in rebounding at 11.7 and is second in scoring averaging 23. points per game. Sidney’s Matt Rosenbaum leads Class B at 11.4.
