2010 Nebraska H.S. Football Playoff Brackets: How Will They Finish?
Class A Projected Finals Matchup is Shaky with Burke Seeded at No.1
If the top two seeds in the 2010 Nebraska High school football playoffs finals were to pan out the state finals in Lincoln would look like this:
Class A Burke vs. Lincoln Southeast
Class B Boys Town vs. Aurora
Class C1 Ogallala vs. Norfolk Catholic
Class C2 Archbishop Bergan vs. Cambridge
Class D1 Creighton vs. West Point Central Catholic
Class D2 Howells vs. St. Mary’s
The top two teams in Class B – Class D2 have a strong probability of meeting up in the finals; however, I can’t say the same for a Class A Burke vs. Lincoln Southeast showdown. I’m not saying that it can’t happen. But historically it’s not often that you see a Class A state football finals without a Millard team represented. In fact since 2000 it has only happened twice (2001 and 2006) and the last two state finals saw Millard West vs. Millard South. Another playoff statistic that jumps out at you is Lincoln Southeast’s ability to win in the finals. Since 1997 the Knights are 4-0 in state finals appearances, winning it all in ’97, ’98, ’00 and ’02. It has just been awhile since Southeast has made it to the promise land.
The odd team out in the in all the recent histrionics of Nebraska Class A high school football state finals is Omaha Burke. The Bulldogs have not won a playoff game since 2005 and have not played in a state finals since a 1980 title game loss to Creighton Prep. That’s a whole lot of empty history to overcome.
I believe in spreading the wealth around–the Millard schools and Lincoln Southeast and Creighton Prep have had their fair share, so it would be nice to see the Bulldogs come through this year. But there are fifteen other teams out there that want that same piece of the pie too—even if some of them have already gorged themselves full. Life was never designed to be fair.

OOOOh, thank you, thank you! That MJ video was so so good. I don’t see how there will ever be another like him. I mean a couple of times that boy jumped so high his head looked like it was above the rim. If that video don’t get you stoked for basketball season nothing else will. Michael Jordan came from another planet, man!
Thanks Will

Omaha Burke won tonight. Soo, you have to change your facts. BURKE BULLDOGS WON TONIGHT! 42-6!!!!
Millard North is the only team we lost to during regular season. And we are definitely not going to let it happen during the playoffs. Those boys are making school history right now. 1980, that is going to change to 2010. And I hope that they dominate in every game too. We are taking state.
